I designed some cans for Tru Colors, a brewery founded by former gang members that focuses in building a community and reduce gang violence. All of the beers they produce have a history behind it.
The Conversation. This beer was inspired by a monthly event they hold to discuss race inequality where people from all backgrounds can come together and find commonalities among themselves.
The Gateway. Before starting a an apprenticeship in the brewery applicants have to prove themselves by working to improve their communities, this beer was inspired by it.
The neighborhood hero. This beer is inspired by former gang members who chose to be strong and work with their former enemies from rival gangs and prove that they can be heroes to their communities.
The Initiation. This beer is inspired by the initiation all apprentices have to go through in order to leave their past fears behind, they jump out of a plane and with that rite they embark on their new lives.
